John screenshotted his 10.4.9 setup and I noticed that they changed the About This Mac box. 10.4.9 doesn't tell you what speed your ram is, or what drive you're booted off of.

And most importantly, it says Apple, Inc. -bleh-

10.4.8 (mine) is on the left. 10.4.9 (John's) is on the right.

MOO-

We regret to inform you that a cow has recently exploded in the main lobby. As our staff is working hard to clean this mess, the floor will not be avalible to the public.
If you must leave this building, do so through the tenth floor window.
:iconcory5412:
hehe, yeah. I suppose not all is lost though, The theory is that they will eventually have more computer-related announcements, and not just the type that say "our actual computer stuff is being delayed because of our new phone stuff."

RIP Apple Computer, Inc. :(

2 gig of RAM? NOT FAIR! :cries: Just...not fair. *bricked*

Well, you did get a bigger screen, and as I recall, a larger hard disc drive than I did.

My machine will be lasting a long time though, I don't intend to replace it until after I replace my camera - and there are no current plans for that.

In theory, I can upgrade to 3 gigs of ram (weird number, eh?) but that involves replacing my two current sticks, which would be a bit of a waste. Ah-well, maybe in a few years it'll be cheap enough to be worthwhile.

I have to admit, I love this screen. :XD: Sad, but true.

I believe mine will last a long time too. And actually, I'm betting the RAM we need to upgrade will be cheap right around when we *have* to upgrade to keep running the programs we like. Still, I'll probably have to upgrade before you because of my WoW addiction. ^^;

Hehe, this is truth. Right now, I rarely max out the ram, or peg the processor cores at 100% utilisation, and even then, the operations I'm performing are usually either very quick and the system remains responsive, or it's SETI@Home and everything's peachy anyway. :P

If I do upgrade the ram, I'm going to wait sure that the upgrade is pretty cheap. Maybe I'll make up some of the difference by selling my old ram to you.

You should take a screenshot of your "about this Mac" thing (first item in the apple menu) so that I can know once and for all, (because I do happen to be terribly interested, I admit I'm a nerd.) whether you've got a Core1Duo or Core2Duo. (Core2Duo iMacs can take 3 gigs of ram, C1Ds can only take 2 gigs.)

I don't seem to max out the RAM much either. Sometimes things run slow when saving in Photoshop but...I AM using a Rosetta version. ^^; Oh, and WoW can get sluggish if I accidentally leave Safari or Word open, but that's only a problem if I have iTunes running too like I usually do. =P My mom's so jealous.

Sell it to me? You SCALPER!

It just says "Intel Core Duo," so I'm guessing it's a Core1. I bought this compy in August, if that helps.

:iconcory5412:
Yeah, probably a Core1. So I've got more ram and a newer processor. :P

Hmm... jealous parentals eh? I don't know if mine are jealous per se, or if they are just under the impression that I do in fact reformat my computer every chance I get, like their Windows machines tend to need. (Hmm... I feel some crossover from the Dell Minitower thread going on. :P)

My machine has been working flawlessly since I got it back from the shop in February, luckily.

As far as being a scalper, I don't know if I'd term it that way. I'm sure if I ever sold parts from my computer, they'd sold at reasonable market value, but that presumes I'll ever sell the parts, I suppose.

Myaaah, crush my delusions of grandeur! =P

My mom actually uses Photoshop and plays WoW, so she is most definitely jealous of my computer goodies. :)

When you say reformat, you mean do a fresh install of the OS, right? My mom's compy looks like it needs that treatment.

Mine's working great too, though I still can't figure out why Dreamweaver suicides whenever I try to connect to the NAU servers through it.

Knowing you, you probably woudn't sell the memory. :XD:
